Immediately after being Inaugurated, the President has spoken
to the nation in what has become known as the Inaugural Address. Now you can read
every Inaugural Address of the
Presidents from George Washington to George Bush.
On June 10th, 1815, Thomas Jefferson wrote to John Adams, "I cannot live without books."
Apparently Jefferson thought that the nation could not either, and so he sent his prized leatherbound
library to the capital where it became the seed of our
Library of Congress.
